REV. DARRIEL D. BROWN, JR.

BIOGRAPHICAL LETTER

Paul wrote “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” (1 Corinthians 2:1-2). It is my intention to humbly come to you in a like manner. I have grown in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the strong and prayerful support of my surrounding family of faith; namely my father, Darriel D. Brown, Sr. and my mother, Sheree Brown along with Pastor Kelly E. Brown, Jr. Growing up in Polk County, FL, I was baptized in 1991 at the Mt. Pleasant P. B. Church of Ft. Meade, FL. My family eventually moved to Lakeland, FL and where we became active members of the Greater St. Paul M. B. I. Church under the pastorate of Dr. Ned S. Sanders. On December 29, 2004 and at the age of 18, I acknowledged my call to the ministry and preached my initial sermon from Luke 2:49 with the subject, “I Must be About my Father’s Business.” In the next few pivotal years, I continued to progress by serving as Youth President of the Progressive M. & E. Baptist State Convention of Florida and by studying at Polk Community College (presently named Polk State College), commencing with an A. A. Degree in Liberal Arts in May 2007. My next assignment led me to Tallahassee, FL to Florida A & M University where I was blessed to attain a B. S. Degree in Business Administration in December 2010 and a blessed fellowship with the Jacob Chapel Baptist Church under the watchful care of Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons. The year 2012 marked several milestones: my marriage to Courtney Quary, the completion of my second term serving as Youth President of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., and my appointment as Youth Minister at the Greater St. Paul M. B. I. Church. In September 2014, I was ordained by the council appointed by Pastor Ned S. Sanders. On February 14, 2016, I was called to serve as Pastor of the Friendship M. B. Church of Dundee, FL and my time of service there concluded on July 26, 2021. After prayerful consideration, in July 2021 my family and I relocated to Jacksonville, FL as a means of trusting God for continued purpose and provision. I am grateful for my beloved family including my wife Courtney Q. Brown and our children: Darriel III (9), David (7), Daniel (5), & Courtlyn (3).

This biography is being submitted with the intention of expressing my interest in serving the Lord through the assignment of Pastor of the Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. I have intentionally and specifically prayed about this opportunity to serve, and I am sure that I have been led to pursue this assignment. I perceive this to be an opportunity to build a bridge from the rich history and legacy of this church to the bright future that I believe lies ahead. Thanks for your prayerful consideration.
