Associate Pastor

Rev. Aaron Flagg, Jr.

Church Mission Statement:

Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church is a Christ centered, biblically based, and spiritually led church that meets the needs of the total person by: exalting the Savior, evangelizing the Sinner, equipping the Saved and edifying the Saints. We exist to share the love of Jesus Christ through evangelism, encourage one another through fellowship, help one another become more like Jesus through discipleship, serve others through ministry, and express our love to God through worship. We express our mission in these words: Worship, Grow and Serve.

Ministries

These ministries are involved in building up the body of Christ through supporting the internal structure of the church and making certain the needs of the congregation are met. They understand that there are many new experiences for a person entering a fellowship of believers, either for the first time, or as a result of relocating. Therefore, these ministries are in place to make that transition smooth.

Prison Ministry

Our mission is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ; and to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women, youth and their families; so they may become loving and productive citizens of their communities.

Noon Day Bible Study

The Wednesday Noonday Bible study is an in-depth study of the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, and word by word. (2 Timothy 2:15). Led by the Holy Spirit in song and prayer. Revealing (James 1:5) the truth of God’s word as it relates to our lives even today (Hebrew 13:8).

It is a ministry that gives to those who can’t make the wonderful Wednesday night study, for whatever reason, an opportunity to have a group study of the Bible. We invite people of all ages to join us in eating the bread of Heaven and distributing bread to the needy every week. (Hymn #99 Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more).

Leader: Rev. Aaron Flagg, Jr.

Men’s Ministry

Our mission is to impact and empower the male believer with transformative truths that enable him to experience a richer, fuller relationship with Christ. Our approach is a practical assessment of obstacles and removing blockages that have historically deterred men from being successful in Kingdom growth. It is our vision to enhance and guide men into Biblically sound relationships in their families and churches by making continual deposits into their spiritual, emotional and economic development, as they seek their rightful place in the Kingdom of God!

Leader: Carlton Wells

Deaconess Ministry

Our mission is to evangelize to the unsaved, to assist in the spiritual matters of the church and serve as the female servant-leaders for the Pastor, to assist with the deacons’ ministries and the congregation.

Music Ministry

Our mission is to provide music that will encourage listeners to accept and keep the Lord, Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. In worship service, it is our duty to prepare hearts in the congregation to receive the Word of God. Therefore, the music we offer is based on the Word. This ministry is not an object to be admired. Rather, it is an instrument to inspire, comfort, persuade, convince, motivate and teach in the direction of true Christianity.

Director of Music: Dr. Erma B. Mitchell

Youth Ministry

Our mission is to provide fun and effective programs that promote spiritual growth, teach God’s Word and encourage evangelism, leadership and service to the church and community.

Education Board

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Rev. Dr. Solomon L. Badger, Jr. and the Emanuel family organized the Education Board to assist its post high school students, who are church members in good standing with their educational cost. Recognizing both the importance of education and the many difficulties that can arise in pursuing a higher education, board members also give spiritual guidance, advice, and encouragement to the students.

Leader: Brenda Brown

Sunday School

Emanuel’s Sunday School exists to bring people to faith in Christ (2 Peter 3:9), help them to grow in grace and knowledge of Him (2 Peter 3:18), and lead them to develop a close love relationship with God, which expresses itself through obedience to His commands (Mark 12:30; John 14:15).

Leader: Deacon Brian Jones

Pastoral Care Ministry

A major duty of the Pastor’s Aide Board is to pray for the needs of the pastor and his family. The committee provides the support needed to the pastor and his family, whether it be in the form of prayer, encouragement through words, or other actions that show their love and gratitude to the pastoral family.

The Pastor’s Aide Board provide any supplies or other items the pastor may need for his office or pulpit, such as preparing his robe for Sunday service. They also take care of the needs of guest preachers that may visit the church and the community and encourage participation of all members of the church to aide and support the pastor.

Visitation Ministry

Our mission is to extend the compassion of Jesus Christ to those who are hospitalized, confined in their homes or otherwise detained. The purpose of this ministry is:

  • To offer prayer and encouragement to people during difficult times.
  • To let the world, know that people matter to both God and our church. Visiting people lets them know we, as a church, care.

Vacation Bible School

The Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an extension of our Sunday School and meets for one week during the month of June. It is designed to enhance spiritual awareness and Biblical knowledge for all ages. The VBS Committee consists of a director and volunteers from the Youth Department. The VBS Committee determines, in cooperation with the Pastor, which of the selected Bible School curriculums will be used. Coordinated plans are executed to provide an effective VBS program. Included in the program are: Bible stories, crafts, games and music. VBS classes are held for youth and adults and include a culminating musical program. Exact dates and times for VBS are announced in the spring of each year.
